Steve Mayhew

About Steve

Steve is a multi-arts Producer, Programmer, Manager and Director and has worked across many facets of the creative arts and cultural sector continuously for almost 30 years. He is currently Program Manager, Theatre Royal Hobart.

He continues to pay particular attention to the creation of new work from new and original voices, the importance of developing contemporary artists’ professional pathways and audiences, and the regional/local access/supply concerns that often form within the arts and culture ecology.

Steve’s festival, event and program experience includes Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Adelaide Fringe, arTour, Country Arts SA, Hong Kong Fringe Club, Performance and Art Development Agency, Regional Arts Australia, Melbourne City Council, Mt Alexander Shire Council and Theatre Network Australia.

He has also been the lead manager for Riverland Youth Theatre, Junction Theatre Company, Brink Productions, Act Now, Performance and Art Development Agency, and Punctum Inc.

Steve has also produced and directed award winning works for Country Arts SA, The Wired Lab and Restless Dance Theatre.

Steve is an alumnus of Flinders University Drama Centre (1991), Asialink Residencies (2007), Leadership Institute of SA (2010) and NIDA’s MFA Cultural Leadership (2022). He is treasurer of The Wired Lab, an artist led organisation evolving interdisciplinary art practices in rural Australia.
