About Miranda
Miranda is a Sydney-based director and storyteller with a particular interest in the intersection of text, music, and movement on stage. She believes passionately in the transformative power of art, and aims to create theatrical events which spark a shared sense of connection and humanity within the audience.
For NIDA’s Festival of Emerging Artists, Miranda wrote and directed a playful and immersive adaptation of the Amélie screenplay, incorporating a live arrangement of music from the film. Also at NIDA, Miranda assistant directed Jim Sharman on a production of Twelfth Night, with a particular focus on movement within the piece, and devised a piece of site-specific dance theatre at NAISDA Dance College.
Prior to studying at NIDA, Miranda directed and choreographed the NSW premiere of Ned: A New Australian Musical at the New Theatre, and produced/choreographed Spring Awakening for the Sydney University Musical Theatre Ensemble (MUSE), of which she was the President in 2018. Miranda has also directed and produced a number of music videos, including Robots for Friendless, BOMP for Friendless and Stereo Jones, and Quiet Australian for Ally Morgan.
In 2020, Miranda is excited to be a part of the ‘Leg Up’ program for emerging physical theatre artists at Legs on the Wall. She is also co-devising a work about climate change with NIDA Writing for Performance alumna JoJo Williams and the Senior Ensemble at Shopfront Arts Co-Op, and developing a new Australian musical with NIDA Writing for Performance alumna Grace Chapple and composer Luke Byrne.
