About Maeve
Maeve is a director, dramaturg, performer, producer, performing arts advocate and agitator based in Hobart, and holds a Bachelor of Performing Arts (Acting), also from NIDA. She was a finalist for the Tasmanian Young Achiever of the Year awards in 2016, and was the recipient of the Theatre Council of Tasmania’s 2016 Andrew Jones Travel Scholarship. From 2014–2017 she was the Artistic Director of Loud Mouth Theatre Company, of which she was a founder. As Director, her production of SHIT was the winner of best professional production and best ensemble at the 2018 Tasmanian Theatre Awards.
Alongside her creative practice, Maeve works in a freelance capacity regularly as an acting teacher, audition coach, marketing manager and arts researcher for Tasmanian arts organisations including Tasmania Performs and Terrapin Puppet Theatre. In 2018 she delivered a Tasmania Performs report entitled A Financial Investment & Social Impact Comparison Of The Tasmanian Racing & Arts Industries. She started a fight with Leo Schofield once because he talked some smack about young Tasmanians, and that sort of thing doesn’t fly at 42 degrees south. He apologised, sort of.
Throughout her Master’s, Maeve has focused her studies primarily on work for and with children, women’s theatre, parents in creative practice, and situating Tasmania and Tasmanian arts in the national conversation.
