About Laura’s
Laura’s teaching qualifications in Qigong, mindfulness and yoga, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Voice from the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) in 2015 honed her passion for an embodied and holistic approach to vocal pedagogy.
With a focus on the development of kinaesthetic awareness to aid technical development, Laura’s teaching philosophy asks students to get out of their heads not by ‘not thinking’, but by ‘whole-bodied thinking’.
This is a teaching process that allows students to respond freely to all emotional and creative impulse in performance.
In addition to her academia, Laura has a Bachelor of Music Theatre (VCA, 2011) and experience in coaching actors, teaching public speaking/performance in schools, and training corporate clients in voice and presentation skills. In 2018 she was selected to participate in a masterclass with legendary voice teacher Patsy Rodenburg through 16th Street Actors Studio.
Since starting at NIDA in 2019 Laura has provided voice support on productions such as LOVE and God of Carnage, has worked with Bachelor of Fine Arts (Acting) Year 3)and Master of Fine Arts (Directing) students on foundational voice work and text while she continues to work with NIDA Open.
