Justice Jones

About Justice

Justice is a Sydney based theatre and opera director. Prior to her time at NIDA, Justice completed a Bachelor of Music majoring in classical voice performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. She continues to study opera under the tutelage of renowned soprano Arax Mansourian.
While abroad in the UK, Justice was a part of the Young Vic’s director’s network in London which allows her to participate in theatre masterclasses from leading West End industry professionals. In 2018, she had her first taste of both directing and the European industry under the leadership of Rosalba Lo Duca as the assistant director for Le Nozze Di Figaro, during the Mediterranean Opera Festival.
In 2019, Justice was the director’s observer for Manon Lescaut with London-based summer festival Opera Holland Park and during her time in the UK was mentored by renowned theatre director Jonathan Kent. Justice was the 2019 recipient of the BBM Global Industry Drama Scholarship, which will take her to Europe to research the ways in which opera can sustain longevity in the 21st century.
In 2020 Justice directed a short fashion film for independent Australian label Bye Bambi and is the assistant director on Sydney Theatre Company’s production of Home, I’m Darling. She is also a part of the National Theatre of Parramatta’s Directors Professional Development 2020 program. Justice is also  a finalist of the Create NSW and Griffin Theatre Company Incubator Program, where she will spend three months developing a new work facilitated by Griffin Theatre Company. Also in 2020, she will direct a staged song cycle of Brahms’s Liebeslieder-Walzer and Granados’ Tonadillas, with The Song Company.
Her NIDA directing credits are Private Lives by Nöel Coward (NIDA and Actors Centre Australia), triple j Unearthed music video Why Can’t You Get Better By Yourself? by Treehouses, and the National Aboriginal Islander Skills Development Association (NAISDA) and NIDA devised work collaboration. She also directed Leoncavallo’s opera Pagliacci during NIDA’s Festival of Emerging Artists.
