Isabella Cannavo

Isabella Cannavo is a graduate of the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) with a BFA in Costume. Prior to this, she obtained an Advanced Diploma of Design for Costume, Theatre and Events and Certificate III in Clothing Production at TAFE, alongside a Bachelor of Digital Technology (Film & Television) from JMC Academy.

After graduating from NIDA, Isabella worked as a Costume Designer and Supervisor on independent theatre productions (Permission To Spin, Dancing with Drip Poles) and short films (Electric, Inside Water). She has worked for production companies such as Belvoir Street Theatre, Global Creatures, Pinchgut Opera and Sydney Dance Company in Costume Assistant, Maker and Maintenance roles. She has experience as a Dresser on Opera Australia’s West Side Story, Spamalot (One Eyed Man Productions) and Hamilton (Michael Cassel Group).

Isabella worked consistently at Sydney Costume Workshop, stitching both principal and ensemble character costumes for Frozen: The Musical, Moulin Rouge! (Australia, Japan, German and US Tours), Mary Poppins and Hamilton.

At NIDA, Isabella teaches the First Year students Costume Making Techniques, Draping I and the June Season Production Makes, as well as the Opera Project and October Season Production Makes to the Second Year students.
