Home Profile Georgia Yenna Oom

Georgia Yenna Oom

Georgia was raised in Sydney’s North Shore, in an eccentric household by two artists. Home life was filled with music always playing, good food, and a zoo for a backyard (an illegal amount of chickens, cats, fish and the occasional possum). At the age of 3, she started taking ballet classes at a tiny studio in Hornsby. This sparked a lifelong passion that would take her on to explore all different dance mediums. She would end up dedicating her life to the training.

Georgia was sure she would go on to study at a full-time dance school after studying at Newtown High School of the Performing Arts, with dance as her major. However, year 12 drama class would change this trajectory. After a not-so-stellar monologue in a “New York” accent, she realised this was for her.

Georgia began booking TVC gigs, picking up film technique as she went. And just like that, she fulfilled her dad’s long-held predictions of becoming an actress. At the age of 17, Georgia started studying a Diploma of Musical Theatre at NIDA. The experience and perspective of this year profoundly changed her. Featuring in a BFA production called Perfect Stranger (written by Hilary Bell) directed by Kate Champion would lead her to audition for the BFA Acting Course.

Furthermore, Georgia loves to indulge in her Halmoni’s Korean feasts and finds therapy in the beach.
