Home Profile Brightholly Nininahazwe

Brightholly Nininahazwe

At the age of five Brightholly emigrated from Tanzania to Australia with her mother, brother and sister. The life and reality she had once known vanished before her as she was whisked off into a new world where everything was strange and unfamiliar.

In the formative years that followed, Brightholly became captivated by literature and its power to unveil worlds and stories beyond those which she knew. For Brightholly, words became an instrument of empathy that she could harness to share her own stories.

With a blossoming desire to bring her stories to life visually, Brightholly first pursued directing before soon discovering that she yearned to become a conduit for the broader human experience and embody extensive stories that struck a visceral chord with an audience. Thus, acting became her calling. It was a leap of faith that challenged her to step outside of herself, be vulnerable and relinquish control.
