Andrew Comrie joined NIDA in February 2024 as Head of Curriculum. Andrew is from Scotland where he has had a career in both the college sector (Scottish equivalent to TAFE) and higher education, spanning 39 years. He is an experienced academic and educational manager and has held academic, management, and senior management positions.
Prior to joining NIDA, Andrew was Director of Fair Access, and prior to that, Director of Academic Innovation at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland which is listed in the top ten performing arts institutions in the world in the QS world rankings.
Andrew is experienced in curriculum design, learning and teaching including technology-enhanced learning and teaching, and in designing curriculum to overcome barriers that people from disadvantaged backgrounds face. He has experience in leading curriculum review and development and leading the professional development of academic staff in learning, teaching and assessment both in Scotland and Internationally.
About joining NIDA, Andrew said: ‘I have worked in education in Scotland for nearly 40 years, so moving to Australia was a big step for me. It was NIDA’s world-class reputation for education and training in the dramatic arts that made me confident that it was the right thing to do.
