Calling all young actors, writers, singers and filmmakers! NIDA Open is about to kick off its winter holiday program and it’s our biggest-ever winter offering yet, meaning there is a course to suit all ages, tastes and abilities.
With a total of 104 courses set to run between 116 July across 10 different locations in the Sydney area, including our prestigious main campus in Kensington and courses held in cities across the nation we have something for all young creatives aged 218.
Our new permanent location in the Southbank Arts Precinct, NIDA Melbourne, will also play host to our winter holiday courses, in addition to venues in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Darwin, Perth and Canberra.
Courses range in duration, from hour-long bite-size classes for young children to five-day drama classes for committed young actors.
Head of NIDA Open, Tricia Ryan, commented, ‘NIDA Open is where young adults come to start or continue their journey in the performing arts. It’s where young children come to develop and discover their creativity, and where young and emerging artists can hone their creative writing ability or learn film editing.’
‘We are always looking to expand our course program because there isn’t a limit to creativity, hence why we have such a huge offering this winter.’
‘We’ve introduced two new courses to the winter 2017 holiday program. The Sherlock Project, for grades 710, with a whodunit mystery element to really incite thrilling storytelling, and Pop Icon for grades 36. If you think your little ones are future pop stars, then that one could be for them!’
Creative development can be integral, not only to a career in the arts, but to education and personal growth. NIDA Open courses can also help develop inner-confidence, facilitate creative exploration and unleash the inner-artist.
‘With growing evidence to support the positive impact drama can have on children and adults from all backgrounds, young people don’t have to be looking for a career in the arts to benefit from what we have to offer… and we offer so much more than drama classes, too. They can benefit academically and socially, and find new interests or improve existing ones to set them on the right path.’
In addition to our main campus in Kensington, courses will also be available at venues in Chatswood, Campbelltown, Parramatta, Randwick, Rouse Hill, Mosman, Wollongong, Taronga Zoo and Carriageworks.
With extensive backgrounds in theatre, TV and film, NIDA tutors deliver enriching learning experiences in every class, by catering to the varied artistic interests and skills of their students.
Book four weeks before the class commencement date to receive a 10% earlybird discount. Whether you’re a future star of the stage or just have an interest in performing, NIDA Open can help you star in your own creative journey.
