The relationship between agent and actor is pivotal to the success of our careers – NIDA Acting graduate Joel Jackson

NIDA’s Industry Week is an exciting time of the year when casting directors, agents, publicists, producers, alumni and industry professionals come and share industry insights with our graduating Acting students as they prepare to begin their career outside our walls.

Eager to get their big break, our third year students consider the chance to chat with our alumni who have gone on to work both in Australia and overseas, to be a major highlight of the week.

Last week we were thrilled to welcome Joel Jackson (Acting, 2013) back to NIDA to talk to our Acting students about the relationship between an actor and his agent.

Since graduating, Joel has been extremely busy with his career, achieving critical and popular acclaim for his work on Peter Allen: Not the Boy Next Door and Deadline Galliopli, as well as winning the 2016 Logie for Most Outstanding Newcomer — Actor.

“It was a privilege and joy to be welcomed back into NIDA and speak to the next generation of artists. The first step after leaving NIDA for actors is to find the agent and team that works best with you and will essentially become a part of your process. I hope what I could impart about my experiences during this crucial time was of some help. The relationship between agent and actor is pivotal to the success of our careers and luckily I have found a winning team at Morrissey Management,” commented Joel.
