NIDA Announces the Dylan Alcott Foundation Scholarship

NIDA is proud to partner with The Dylan Alcott Foundation in providing a new scholarship available to a Bachelor of Fine Arts student living with disability.

The Dylan Alcott Foundation Scholarship will be open to all applicants under 26 for any three-year Bachelor of Fine Arts course, including the Acting, Design, Costume, Props and Effects, Set Construction Technologies and Technical Theatre and Stage Management disciplines.

Commencing in 2025, one scholarship recipient will receive $20,000 per annum for three years to cover tuition fees and some living expenses through the generous support of the Dylan Alcott Foundation and the NIDA Foundation Trust.

The Dylan Alcott Foundation is a charitable organisation that empowers young Australians living with disability to chase their dreams and break down barriers. Through sport, education, mentorship, and disability advocacy via the foundations initiatives, the foundation helps create a more inclusive world, one life-changing opportunity at a time.

Dylan Alcott said, ‘Further education opportunities for my community is something we’re very passionate about at the DAF and the creative industry is no exception. We want to empower young Australians living with disability to dream big and explore whatever category of education interests them and we can’t wait to come and see them on the big stage.’

NIDA’s CEO Liz Hughes said, ‘NIDA is immensely grateful for this generous support by the Dylan Alcott Foundation and the inspirational leadership of Dylan Alcott. This life changing scholarship will enable greater access to NIDA’s internationally recognised and industry-ready training for a talented BFA Student commencing in 2025.’

NIDA’s Equity and Inclusion Manager, Dr Alexia Derbas said, ‘This scholarship represents NIDA’s commitment to addressing the barriers young people with disability face in accessing opportunities in the creative industries. It’s exciting to partner with the Dylan Alcott Foundation to continue working at this.’

Applications for the Dylan Alcott Foundation Scholarship can be submitted upon completion of a 2025 course application.

Apply for NIDA’s 2025 intake before mid-September to be considered for a 2025 scholarship. Learn more about NIDA Scholarships or how to apply for NIDA, or speak with student services about your access requirements.
