Deborah Riley, NIDA Bachelor of Design (1996) Alumna and Production Designer ofGame of Thrones, delivered a brilliant ‘In Conversation’ lecture with NIDA Director/CEO Kate Cherry at the Parade Theatre this month, followed by a generous Q&A about her time working on HBO’s television series.
The Emmy and BAFTA Award-winning designer entranced the audience with her presentation that highlighted the hard work, inspired creativity and dazzling locations that make up the epic series.

Now the series have ended, Deb is back in Sydney reflecting on her the journey she has taken. Is she optimistic about the future? ‘I think Game of Thrones has taken away the fear of being freelance,’ she said.
Deb will be packing her bags to attend the Emmy Awards in LA in September as a nominee for Best Production Design for Game of Thrones � Dragonstone. We wish Deborah the very best of luck and look forward to welcoming her home to NIDA whenever she next has the chance.
