Next week, NIDA will commence a new three-year partnership with the Russian University of Theatre Arts (GITIS) � Russia’s foremost theatrical school � as two of our Master of Fine Arts (MFA) students head to Moscow for a month-long Artistic Residency.

On 11 February, Matt Day’s black comedy ‘The Mother Situation’ took top honours at the 2017 Tropfest short film festival. Co-produced by NIDA Corporate Senior Course Manager and 1978 Acting graduate, Diane Smith, the film follows three adult siblings as they assist their terminally ill mother to commit suicide.

On 26 December 2016, ABC iview launched Goober, a short comedy series created and written by NIDA staff member, Dr Ben Crisp. We caught up with Ben to talk about the show, how he managed to get on the free internet TV service, as well as the other projects he’s working on.

The process of rehearsing a script can often seem elusive and something that only the actors and the director have the privilege of participating in. For many of us, this mystery remains just that, but not anymore. NIDA is opening its rehearsal room doors to showcase this very special process to students in grades 4-6!

NIDA was thrilled to kick off the year with an invitation from Lane Cove Out of School Inc. (LCOOS) to deliver an Introduction to Drama series of workshops. With our long history of developing customised workshops for schools based on the needs and interests of student cohorts, it was a wonderful way to begin what is set to be a very busy 2017.

This year,NIDA Corporate has partnered with The Law Society of New South Wales, to provide their young lawyers with an opportunity to learn practical techniques to enhance their leadership style, present with confidence, and improve professional communication style in a variety of contexts.
