NIDA Melbourne has announced the next season of signature evenings in the NIDAnights series. Led by Dr Nithya Nagarajan, a curator with significant experience at the interface of creative practice, academic research and arts management, the NIDAnights program is an opportunity to open your minds, stimulate your senses and warm your hearts.

Director of Public Programs and Head NIDA Corporate Vanessa White said: ‘NIDA Melbourne is excited to support a dialogue with independent artists, who are taking advantage of the multi-purpose, world-class studios on Southbank.’

The season kicks off on 19 July, with an evening of poetry and spoken word organised in the format of a treasure hunt along the arts precinct, featuring six Melburnian poets and spoken word artists with Peril Magazine. On 16 August, Experimenta Media Arts in collaboration with NIDA look at how artists House of Vnholy and Nikki Lam are using technology in performance.

On 20 September, Wildlife Gone Walkabout will bring live wild animals into the space to investigate how we can take models from our Australian ecosystem and apply them to our artistic practice and cultural landscape.

In a new development, NIDA Melbourne invited a curatorial takeover in Seize the Space. This unique opportunity for an emerging curator from an Indigenous/CALD background to dream up an event that captures the values of community and engagement has been awarded to Anupama Pilbrow from Suburban Review, for her event ITERATION. On 18 October, with support from NIDA staff in finessing the curatorial framework, the event will be produced as a part of NIDAnights with the emerging curator walking away with 100% of the box office from the night.
