The National Institute of Dramatic Art has extended the application period for its 2018 higher education courses to 29 October, giving candidates an extra month to apply while overlapping with October’s eagerly anticipated student production season, when people will see firsthand the exceptional work of NIDA students.

The National Institute of Dramatic Art has extended the application period for its 2018 higher education courses to 29 October, giving candidates an extra month to apply while overlapping with October’s eagerly anticipated student production season, when people will see firsthand the exceptional work of NIDA students.
‘If you missed the deadline, this is a valuable opportunity to take advantage of this extension and apply for a place at Australia’s leading institute for dramatic arts training,’ commented NIDA Director/CEO Kate Cherry. ‘We want to make sure everyone who wants to apply has the opportunity to do so.’

With The Paradice Family Foundation Season of student productions, EXPONIDA, Writers’ readings and more, we’ll be presenting a diverse range of work from the wonderfully creative minds here to a great number of people. They’ll experience firsthand the outcomes of our students’ learning and witness the beginnings of the next generation of Australian artists.’
In addition to the world-renowned Acting course, NIDA provides Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in: Costume (costume-making), Design for Performance, Properties and Objects (props-making), Staging, and Technical Theatre, and Stage Management. Master of Fine Arts degrees are offered in Cultural Leadership, Design for Performance, Directing, Voice (voice teaching) and Writing for Performance, which are all delivered in the NIDA Graduate School building. Accredited Vocational Diplomas are also offered in Live Production and Technical Services, Musical Theatre, Specialist Make-up Services, and Stage and Screen Performance.
NIDA is encouraging Indigenous arts practitioners to apply for the 2018 Luminis Foundation Indigenous Fellowship for Cultural Leadership.
‘As a future-focused program, the MFA Cultural Leadership course is ultimately about cultivating the next generation of leaders in arts and culture,’ commented NIDA’s Head of Cultural Leadership, Associate Professor Cheryl Stock.
‘It is for people who value diversity, demonstrate great capability in embracing change and are fearless advocates for arts and culture. It values informed, courageous and resilient leaders who embody empathy and a collaborative approach,’ she added.
