Actors Benevolent Fund presents generous award at NIDA

Actors Benevolent Fund Chair and actor Bruce Spence presented their annual Sydney Theatre Awards sponsorship to NIDA student Isabella Thompson.

Every year the Actors Benevolent Fund sponsors the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Sydney Theatre Awards. This award includes support for a NIDA student in their second year of study, to encourage them at the very beginning of their career in the performing arts.

The Award is usually presented as part of the Sydney Theatre Awards held in January of each year.

In 2021, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Awards were not held. Instead, representatives of the ABF were welcomed at NIDA, and chose to present the encouragement award to Isabella Thompson, a student in NIDA’s Bachelor of Fine Arts (Technical Theatre and Stage Management) course.

The award was presented by the Chair of Actors Benevolent Fund of NSW, actor Bruce Spence. Representing the Sydney Theatre Awards was Ian Phipps, publicist and Producer of the Sydney Theatre Awards, Glenn Hazeldine, Deputy Chair, Actors Benevolent Fund of NSW and Camilla Rountree, Actors Benevolent Fund Secretary.

They were joined by Liz Hughes, NIDA CEO and Lisa Hamilton, Head of Development and Alumni at NIDA.

Both organisations wish Isabella well and look forward to see her working in the industry.
