On Saturday 1 October, Rage revealed six exciting new music videos that are the result of the 2016 triple j Unearthed and NIDA collaboration.
Showcasing the talents of some of Australia’s best emerging artists, each year the collaboration offers six lucky bands and musicians the chance to have a professional music video produced by the next generation of creative professionals.
With just $200 and two days, NIDA’s talented directing, design, production and writing students turned the winning tunes into eye-catching music videos that have been played across the country.
A highlight for the NIDA students and the musicians, the project provides invaluable industry experience and a chance to flex their creative muscles.
‘Each year this project delivers our Directing and Design students the creative challenge of working with the commercial realities of strict budgets and timelines,’ NIDA Head of Directing Dr Egil Kipste commented.
‘Challenging and ambitious, showcasing such a diverse group of musicians this year, the incredible work produced through this competition helps kick-start the careers of some really great artists and directors, which is exciting for our students and their future careers.’
Lachlan Macara, triple j Unearthed Executive Producer, said: ‘It’s such a buzz for these six artists to watch their brilliant songs come to life on screen through this partnership with NIDA.The students have shown some incredible creativity this year and we’re all looking forward to waking up to them this Saturday on Rage.’
