Our Areas of Interest

Tech + Humanity

What is technology? What does it mean to be human? Can we infuse technology with more humanity? How can technology help us be more human? How does the artist influence future relationships between people and autonomous systems?

Artist + Audience

How do we leverage emerging technologies to create new ways for artists and audiences to share stories and perspectives in a meaningful and engaging way.

Ancient + Future

How can emerging technologies preserve and share First Nations knowledge, cultural heritage and storytelling traditions? How can First Nations perspectives inform the design and development of emerging technologies to create more inclusive and culturally sensitive digital futures for all?

The NIDA Future Centre was seeded by a generous donation from the Jim Sharman Future Fund. Jim Sharman, a NIDA alum, is an Australian director of stage and screen whose work has had a profound cultural impact in Australia and internationally.
