Summer is the perfect time to open your mind to new possibilities, explore your creative potential and reconnect with a part of yourself you may have been putting aside.

Creative courses are a chance for everyone to put down their mobile phone and laptop and step into another world of creativity. Listening in a group, taking turns and sharing the limelight is a life skill you can learn. It’s a building block for family relationships and a tool for communication at work. It’s a positive state of mind that promotes focus and energy.

‘Summer creative courses are incredibly popular as they are the ideal time for many people to recharge while holiday schedules open up. Suddenly we find time to do inspiring things for ourselves,’ said Gillian Lemon, Acting Head of NIDA Open.

‘NIDA Open courses are suitable for every level – for beginners, for those wishing to apply skills they have already learnt, or for those wanting to extend into advanced areas of training. For existing creatives, it’s a time to devote to developing their career or topping up their artistic toolkit.’

Throughout December 2017 and the whole of January 2018, the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) offers adults and children the chance to work closely with some of Australia’s finest performing arts professionals with years of experience in the industry. NIDA Open courses focus on unlocking creativity and fun, ranging from rigorous and highly physical actor training, to essentials in vocal technique, short filmmaking, dramatic writing for performance, design, musical theatre and stand-up comedy.

Courses for children and young people are held at NIDA’s award-winning facilities in Kensington and a range of venues around Sydney as well as Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.
