The National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) continues to raise the standard of education and training for theatre, film and television after announcing a significant new technology partnership with world-leading imaging organisation, Canon.

As the Exclusive Partner for imaging technology, Canon has supplied NIDA with the latest photography, cinema and print devices to enrich student learning experiences and creative achievement. In addition to training, the Canon equipment will be used to enable real-world applications throughout the curriculum including NIDA’s annual student theatre productions and a range of other innovative storytelling projects over the course of 2017-2019.

By making the imaging equipment used by the creative and media industries available to the talented Bachelor of Fine Arts, Master of Fine Arts and Vocational Diploma cohorts, NIDA and Canon are seeking to enhance the technical knowledge and industry-readiness of students.

The partnership will enable students to maximise their creative potential and realise their unique and imaginative ideas, with cutting-edge technology that will help audiences better connect with the incredible and fascinating stories that NIDA students are communicating.

‘Canon is focussed on supporting the creative achievement of emerging talent and what better way to do this than by partnering with the country’s leading educator in the performing arts,’ says Jason McLean, Director – Consumer Imaging, Canon Australia. ‘We’re always in awe of the things people do with our products to bring their imagination and creativity to life, so we can’t wait to see the work of NIDA’s students.’

‘I am thrilled that Canon has partnered with NIDA by providing top quality equipment for use by the students in their film, photography and design course work. NIDA is always seeking like-minded organisations to help explore innovation and technology in the dramatic arts, and alignment with an industry leader like Canon adds significant value to our education offering.

‘Thank you to Canon for their generous support. I very much look forward to seeing what our talented students create using their new Canon equipment,’ comments Kate Cherry, NIDA’s Director/CEO.

Canon’s product support spans the renowned ‘EOS’ DSLR camera and ‘Cinema EOS’ cinema camera ranges, lenses and accessories, and printer products including the image PROGRAF large format printer range.
