Robyn Nevin took home an award for her masterful appearance in Angels in America for Belvoir Theatre, and Heather Mitchell received an award for her inaugural musical theatre performance in the hugely popular Strictly Ballroom The Musical.
NIDA Design graduate, Gabriela Tylesova received three nominations across the awards for her many stunning set and costume designs for opera and theatre, but it was her scenic design for STC’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead that won her a Helpmann.
The NIDA community congratulates all the awarded and nominated NIDA graduates on the Helpmann Awards’ recognition of their contribution to the arts and entertainment.
The Helpmann Awards celebrate Australia’s live performance industry with awards for theatre, dance, musicals, opera and classical and contemporary music.
