The achievements of 63 young creative professionals were recently celebrated at the National Institute of Dramatic Art Graduation Ceremony for the class of 2013.
The strong cohort of actors, directors, designers, writers, production professionals, costumes and props creators are already in hot demand as the industry welcomes the latest generation of NIDA alumni.
“NIDA graduates have always been leaders in the arts and entertainment industry, and we are proud to be introducing the next wave of creative talent,” said NIDA Director and CEO Lynne Williams.
“Many of them are already creating work across theatre, screen and live events that will challenge existing practice and mark them out as future creative leaders.
“NIDA students are given unique opportunities to meet the challenges of a rapidly evolving arts and entertainment industry, so they complete their degrees ready to join the industry, ready to share innovative ideas and ready to forge new directions for the future of the dramatic arts.”
The Attorney-General and Minister for the Arts, Senator the Hon George Brandis delivered an address at the graduation ceremony, and officially opened the newest addition to NIDA’s world-class facilities: The NIDA Studios. The four new studios will provide much-needed space for the research and development of new works, as well as for the growing demand for NIDA’s public courses.
