About Tess
Tess studied an Associate Degree in Fashion Design and Technology at Melbourne’s RMIT, after which she desired to continue to develop her skills as a costume maker.
At NIDA, she’s experienced a broad scope of the costume making profession, from specialist skills like period cutting and millinery, to supervising stage productions.
In her third-year research project, she explored her passion for prop-costuming by creating a monster costume. She studied the horror genre and designed a creature that required research and experimentation with stilts, foam body building, fur, and art finishing.
During her secondments, she worked making costumes for Dancing with the Stars and assisted on Netflix’s Clickbait, where she was given an insight into the film industry. Tess wishes to continue to learn and grow working as a costume maker, aspiring to specialise in prop-costuming.
