NIDA proud to announce Nicole Stinton as new Head of Music

NIDA is proud to announce that Nicole Stinton, a dynamic leader in the music and theatre industry, has been appointed as the new Head of Music. Nicole will be overseeing all aspects of music education in the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Acting), particularly focusing on the music theatre stream, and contributing to Diploma programs.

Nicole has most recently been a lecturer and the Course Coordinator of the Diploma of Musical Theatre at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). She has worked in the theatre industry for more than two decades across Australia and Asia, including at LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore.

‘We are so excited to work with Nicole, who brings to NIDA an abundance of talent, expertise and knowledge about music theatre to share with our students,’ said NIDA CEO Liz Hughes. ‘NIDA is committed to nurturing the emerging music theatre stars of the future through our world-class education, and Nicole is the perfect fit. She has extensive teaching experience not only as a vocal coach, director and actor, but also hands on experience as an Artistic Director.’

Nicole has taught acting and singing, specialising in theatre-with-music and has extensive experience not only as a vocal coach, director and actor, but also as an artistic director, including for Short+Sweet in Singapore and in Malaysia for five seasons.

She is also an author and has published several books on Drama that are widely used in the Australian education system. She holds an MBA in Arts and Entertainment Management from Deakin University and a Bachelor in Musical Theatre from WAAPA. Nicole is currently studying her PhD in acting-through-song at WAAPA.

NIDA has a wide range of Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees, as well as its world-famous Bachelor of Fine Arts (Acting) course. Prospective students can choose from a range of courses in Costume, Cultural Leadership, Design for Performance, Directing, Technical Theatre and Stage Management, Properties and Objects, Staging and Technologies, and Writing for Performance.
