Recent graduates of Musical Theatre excited television audiences this week as they performed a medley of Disney songs on Channel 10.

Rachael Mayrick (DMT 2018), Chaya Ocampo (DMT 2017), Adam Spain-Mostina (DMT 2017) and Jesse Layt (DMT 2017) took up the opportunity to sing and perform live on morning television, with three of the graduates appearing on television for the first time. Under the pressure of live cameras the four performed three intense minutes of Disney tunes with the studio audience loving every second.
Their vocational course had prepared the graduates for the experience and all drew on the skills they learnt at NIDA.
Jesse Layt graduated in 2017 said the Diploma gave him “a really well rounded skill set to move into the entertainment industry. I’ve been doing lots of auditions like big dance calls and intimate vocal auditions which were all things that I have felt comfortable of being a part of. This opportunity is so exciting and it’s also wonderful to be able to represent NIDA.”
Chaya Ocampo graduated in 2017 and since then has been busy performing in independent theatre and taking on corporate work. “The NIDA course prepared us to make decisions about our future and whether we wanted to take on the industry or whether we might want to continue studying. I am going back to studying this year and have been accepted into WAAPA for their Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting. And I am really excited and nervous about this opportunity – I haven’t done TV before. Just have to commit and work as an ensemble!”
